Mayor Park Won-soon to Spearhead the Attraction of Chinese Investment, ‘Seoul-China Investment Week’



With the aim of restoring Chinese investment in the city and activating network between the cities and their enterprises to enhance economic cooperation, Seoul-China Investment Week’ was held for two days, from Nov. 28th (Wed) to 29th (Thu). Now in its third year, this year’s event was jointly hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Bank of China, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of sisterhood between Seoul and Beijing.


Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) accompanied 20 promising SMEs and startups selected based on their competencies, attractiveness to Chinese investors and technological capacities to the event to meet with 100 Chinese investors. And SMG concluded a business contract with the Bank of China, one of big four banks in China and the official exchange control bank, to increase opportunities for Korean enterprises to enter the Chinese market.


As well, SMG and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality each delivered a presentation on the investment climate of their cities, during which the SMG highlighted Seoul's strengths in the area of ‘innovative growth,’ an axis of the economic policies of 7th Seoul Metropolitan Government. The presentation put the spotlight on Magok Industrial Complex, G-Valley and Hongneung Biomedical Cluster.


Mayor Park Won-soon signed Business Contract for Mutual Economic Cooperation and the Fostering of Fintech Industrieswith the Bank of China. It establishes a foundation for creating global business opportunities for enterprises with ample growth potential, and invigorates the investment and intera ction between two countries, specifically in the area of Fintech industry.
