Seoul Metropolitan Government signs Friendship & Cooperation Agreement with Muscat, capital of Oman


Mayor Park Won-soon had a face-to-face talk with Moshin Mohammed Al Shaikh, mayor of Muscat of Oman, on Sep. 6 in Seoul City Hall and signed an agreement for friendship, exchange, and cooperation between the two cities of Seoul and Muscat.


Muscat is the capital of the Sultanate of Oman and an international city connecting the Middle East, India and Africa. With the signing of this agreement, Muscat has become the 63rd city to form a friendship agreement with Seoul.


Through this agreement, the two cities pledged to share information, knowledge, and experience in the areas of urban planning, e-government, urban restoration, urban landscaping, infrastructure, transportation, and public health; to achieve economic cooperation and facilitate investment by supporting exchanges in the areas of trade, investment, technology, etc.; to cooperate and promote personnel exchanges in the areas of culture and tourism; and to cooperate in the promotion of exchanges between the two cities through various international events and international conferences.


Mayor Park Won-soon said, “I expect that closer cooperation will be achieved with the city of Muscat, the hometown of Sinbad in Arabian Nights, which is located at a strategic point in the Sea Silk Road connecting the East and the West. I will expand strategic city diplomacy in the Middle Eastern region which has so much potential, using Muscat as an outpost.”
